What is this RSS Stuff?
RSS lets you keep track of Alineah real estate properties exactly when you want them without having to visit our website (although we love to have you here!). It's easy...
The button that you see at the bottom of our pages provides a data link to which you can subscribe. This data link is called an RSS feed.
RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication—a quick and easy way to create and use "syndicated content" such as news headlines, articles and announcements like Alineah real estate properties. If you're too busy to browse our site to check for new properties, we can alert you to new real estate listings as soon as we post them. You can choose to receive our feed, and merely delete it from a list in your newsreader if you no longer wish to receive it. Complete privacy ... no hassle!
Step 1: Get a Reader!
The easiest way to experience RSS is through an RSS "newsreader" or "aggregator" for your desktop computer. This will fetch and organize recent content and provide simple ways to read it.
Below is a list of RSS clients (some free, some commercial) for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux platforms. Choose and install the one that sounds like the best fit for you, then go to the next step.
Some popular downloadable aggregators are FeedDemon (for Windows), NetNewsWire (for Mac), Radio (for Windows or Mac), and NewzCrawler (for Windows). Pluck integrates right into IE 6.0 on Windows XP and 2000, and offers a special download page for Monitor readers.
But seriously folks, you should be using a much safer and more secure browser than Internet Explorer. Treat yourself to one of the best: Firefox, which lets you save RSS feeds as "Live Bookmarks" that update regularly (the free Sage extension makes Firefox an even more useful aggregator and is one we use ourselves).
Step 2: Grab a feed!
Throughout our site, you will see a RSS button that links to our new properties which are updated frequently. Click on the button and copy the URL from the address bar of your browser into the appropriate section of your RSS reader. Most newer RSS newsreaders will "auto discover" the RSS feeds on sites you browse, so no cutting and pasting is necessary! Please consult the documentation for your RSS reader for more information.
Step 3: Read the feeds!
You don't have to visit our site to preview new alineah.com real estate listings. You'll quickly see in your newsreader when new properties have been posted. If you see alineah.com property that interests you, click on it and we'll take you right to the details!
